Xiaomi’s India head Manu Kumar Jain stated that both the phones need to undergo testing and certification before they can be launched in the country. Redmi Note 8 Series is believed to come with high screen-to-body ratio, 4,500mA battery with QuickCharge 4+ support, NFC, MIUI 10, and a 20-megapixel selfie shooter which will be going to compete with the recently-announced Realme XT that sports a 64 MP quad-camera setup.

Xiaomi has officially launched its Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi TV and refreshed RedmiBook 14-inch laptop yesterday in China. Soon after its launch event in Beijing, China, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 series will be making their way to India.

Here’s a look at what we currently know about Redmi Note 8 series, based on various teasers, leaks, and rumors.

Redmi Note 8‘s price and specifications

The dual-SIM (Nano) Redmi Note 8 is rumoured to pack octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, paired with up to 6GB of RAM. The phone also includes features such as NFC, IR blaster, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, superlinear speaker and smart PA.

On the imaging front, the phone will have a quad-camera setup like its Pro variant and has added four rear cameras – a 48-megapixel primary shooter, an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter, and two 2-megapixel cameras. Among other specifications, the Redmi Note 8 will run on MIUI 10, based on Android 9 Pie and features a 6.39-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) screen.

In terms of the pricing, as per the leaks, the phones’ prices in India will be going to be similar to its China pricing, barring the tax and government duties imposed. To recall, the Redmi Note 8’s 4GB + 64GB variant is reportedly going to retail at CNY 1,199 (roughly Rs. 12,000).

Redmi Note 8 Pro will run on Android Pie based MIUI 10, features a 6.53-inch full-HD+ display and will be powered by MediaTek Helio G90T processor. The dual-SIM support will also pack up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage.

For optics, Redmi Note 8 Pro has a quad-camera setup and includes a 20MP selfie camera, a 64-megapixel primary shooter, an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter, and two 2-megapixel sensors. The Pro variant will boast of a 1080p resolution display and comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection with a waterdrop-style notch.

Battery-wise the phone is said to have a similar feature to that of Redmi Note 8 a 4,500 mAh capacity battery which supports 18W fast charging and also supports  3.5mm audio jack, superlinear speaker, IR blaster, and smart PA. In Pro variant, Xiaomi has added gaming-centric features the Game Turbo 2.0 mode and has also provided cooling support to improve the gaming experience of the users.

As for the pricing, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will retail at CNY 1,799 (roughly Rs. 18,000) for the 6GB + 128GB variant and for the 8GB + 128GB model the phone will carry a price tag of CNY 2,099 (roughly Rs. 21,000).

Xiaomi will bring the smartphones to India soon but in China, the first sale for Redmi Note 8 will take place on September 17 while the Redmi Note 8 Pro sale will take place on September 3.
