Airtel Appreciates Government For Allocating 5G Spectrum

Airtel Founder and Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal have appreciated the government for allocating 5G Spectrum within a few hours of the initial payment.

“No Fuss, No Follow Up, No running around the corridors and No tall claims. This is the ease of doing business at work in its full glory,” Mr Mittal said on Thursday.

“In my over 30 years of first-hand experience with the Department of Telecom, this is a first! Business as it should be. Leadership at work-right at the top and at the helm of telecom. What a Change! Change that can transform this nation – power its dreams to be a developed nation.” Mr. Bharti added in his statement.

On Wednesday, Bharti Airtel paid Rs. 8,312.4 crores to the department of Telecom upfront towards dues for spectrum acquired in the recently concluded 5G auction. Only Airtel has chosen to pay dues for four years, while the remaining three firms ━  Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, and new entrant Adani ━ paid the first instalment of Rs 7,864 crore, Rs 1,680 and Rs 18.90 crore, respectively. Adani chooses to pay in 20 equal instalments.

Why is the 5G Network so important?

5G is the fifth generation mobile network faster than previous generations, 3G and 4G. The rapid speed of the 5G network will enhance work efficiency. 5G has a very low latency that sends messages with a minimal delay. It is expected to be faster, about ten times than 4G networks.

The 5G network is also expected to bring more development to the country and will soon be launched in key cities such as Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, etc.
