Apple Could Remove The Lightning Connector On The Highest-End Version In 2021, Ming-Chi Kuo Reported
Apple could remove the lightning connector on the highest-end version of the iPhone in 2021 that means the device will require wireless charging, Ming-Chi Kuo reported on Thursday, an analyst at TD securities. Removing the lightning updates along with different updates would boost shipments and the average selling price, Kuo- an analyst wrote. He also said the top-tier iPhone would provide a ‘complete wireless experience’ without the connector. Speculation to remove the lightning cable has been building for several years. Till 2017, Ming-Chi guess, apple would discard the lighting connector in favor of the USB Type-C connector, which is widespread across the industry. However, Apple has continued with lightning port in its latest launched models in September such as iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Alongside this, Apple has started to include USB-C connectors in some products. The latest models of iPhone are supporting fast charging promising to deliver up to 50% charge in just 30 minutes. The charger uses USB-C and requires a specific cable, which iPhone users needed to buy, that goes from the lightning connector to USB-C ports.
