Bernard Arnault Takes Top Spot As World’s Richest Person

Bernard Arnault, the owner, chairman and CEO of French luxury goods brand LVMH, has now overtaken Elon Musk as the richest man in the world. According to Forbes Magazine, Bernard Arnault has accumulated a net worth of $207.4 billion after shares of his company soared, accounting for a $23.6 billion increase in his net worth. On the other hand, the previous world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has a net worth of around $204.5 billion. The market cap of LVMH reached $388 billion on Friday after the surge in share prices. 

LVMH is a luxury goods company that owns some of the most luxurious brands in the world, like Fendi, Tag Huer, Tiffany & Co., Louis Vuitton, Belmond, and many more such brands. The company was founded in the 1980s by Bernard Arnault as the amalgamation of the most luxurious French brands. 

According to Forbes, the current world’s richest men list includes:

  1. Bernard Arnault ($207.6 billion)
  2. Elon Musk ($204.5 billion)
  3. Jeff Bezos ($181.3 billion)
  4. Larry Ellison ($141.2 billion)
  5. Mark Zuckerburg  ($139.1 billion)
  6. Warren Buffet ($127.2 billion)
  7. Larry Page ($127.1 billion)
  8. Bill Gates ($122.9 billion)
  9. Sergey Brin ($121.7 billion)
  10. Steve Ballmer ($118.8 billion)

India’s Richest man, Mukesh Ambani, was just short of the number 10 spot in the list with a net worth of $106.1 billion and Gautam Adani, who was once India’s richest person, stands at number 16 with a net worth of $78.7 billion.
