Could you outline the processes that ensure world-class engine and generator manufacturing at Cooper Corporation?
We are globally recognised for our vertically integrated manufacturing processes, which encompass casting, machining, assembly, and testing. This streamlined structure allows us to maintain stringent control over quality and timelines. Our foundries are among the most advanced in India, adhering to the highest standards as required by our international clients. The process begins with precision casting of key components such as cylinder liners and crankshafts, followed by closely monitored production stages. We use state-of-the-art CNC machines, robotic assembly lines, and advanced inspection tools to ensure every engine and generator meets rigorous international specifications and standards. Continuous investment in R&D fuels our innovation, and we implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and minimise waste.
How does Cooper Corporation manage its supply chain to ensure timely deliveries, both domestically and internationally?
We focus on efficiency, reliability, and adaptability within our supply chain. Long-term relationships with trusted suppliers ensure that we access the highest-quality raw materials and components. Our advanced planning and scheduling systems enable us to optimise production, reducing delays and ensuring smooth operations. Moreover, our robust logistics network, supported by partnerships with leading freight and shipping companies, guarantees timely deliveries, both domestically and internationally. Our vertically integrated structure gives us control over critical components, reducing reliance on third-party suppliers and preventing supply chain bottlenecks. This strategy has been instrumental in maintaining our 50% export rate, with consistent on-time deliveries to key markets like the United States.
Could you share any upcoming projects or plans aimed at expanding Cooper Corporation’s market presence?
We’re actively exploring new markets in Southeast Asia and Africa to further expand our global footprint. One of our key initiatives is the introduction of a new line of alternate fuel generators, which cater to the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions. These generators will feature flexi-fuel capabilities, allowing them to operate on diesel and gas, significantly reducing carbon emissions. We have recently partnered with Sinfonia Technology, an over a hundred-year-old Japanese company that is a Prime Member of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, to develop and supply them with a new range of LPG gensets for India, Japan and ASEAN markets. In addition to this, we’re expanding our production facilities to meet increasing demand, while also enhancing our digital infrastructure to improve global supply chain management and customer service. These initiatives will further solidify Cooper Corporation’s leadership position in the OEM industry.
What key quality control practices and certifications does Cooper Corporation maintain?
Our commitment to quality spans generations. I represent the third generation of leadership, with two behind me and more to come. We’ve always embraced evolving technologies, whether shifting from cylinder liners to manufacturing crankshafts or moving into diesel and gas engines and tractors. Cooper Corporation has earned a reputation for exceptional quality by adhering to stringent international standards. We hold several prestigious certifications, including ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems and ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems. Our engines are known for their ability to function in extreme conditions, withstanding temperatures from -26°C to +5°C at high altitudes up to 5,000 feet. These products, particularly those used in defence, undergo rigorous testing to meet highperformance standards. Our engines power critical defence applications, such as radar systems, missile launchers, tanks and armoured vehicles, where reliability is non-negotiable. Continuous audits from clients like MAN, Jaguar Land Rover and the Ministry of Defence, and compliance with US automotive standards, show our unwavering commitment to quality. Recently a crankshaft made by us was used to launch Chandrayaan 3 to the moon.
Can you highlight recent innovations in Cooper’s engines or generators that demonstrate the company’s commitment to advancement?
In line with its commitment to innovation, we have recently introduced high-efficiency diesel engines that meet the latest emission standards, featuring advanced fuel injection systems for improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. The company also developed generators with enhanced load-bearing capacities for sectors like construction and healthcare. Additionally, Cooper’s R&D team collaborates with international firms to innovate, as seen in their marine-specific engines with corrosion-resistant materials for durability in harsh environments.
