CEO Uday Kotak Resigns- Who Will Replace Him Now?

Kotak Mahindra Bank made an announcement on September 2 that Uday Kotak, who previously held the positions of Managing Director and (CEO) Chief Executive Officer, had officially resigned from his role. This news has created significant interest and speculation within the financial industry, as Kotak has been a prominent figure in the bank’s leadership for many years. Despite the uncertainty surrounding this change, Kotak Mahindra Bank has assured its customers and stakeholders that it remains committed to providing excellent service and maintaining its strong reputation in the market.

Additionally, Mr. Uday Kotak resigned four months prior to his scheduled retirement at the end of this year. The bank has already applied for a new managing director to India’s central bank, as top positions at lenders in India require approval from the Reserve Bank of India. In his resignation letter to the board, Mr Uday Kotak stated that “it is time to move on.” The bank has taken appropriate measures for succession and is awaiting the RBI’s decision. This information was disclosed in the resignation letter, which was published in the filing.

But until a new CEO is appointed, who will manage Uday Kotak’s duties? According to the bank, Dipak Gupta, who is presently the Joint Managing Director, will serve as CEO till December 31.
