His tenure as Dean of Resource Planning and Generation further solidified his reputation as a visionary leader committed to academic excellence.
In 2009, Dr. Sudhir embarked on a new challenge as the founding director of the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), where he shaped the institute’s vision and fostered a culture of excellence and innovation. Over three terms, he played a crucial role in establishing IITGN as a premier institution known for its cutting-edge research and academic rigour.
Dr. Sudhir’s expertise lies in earthquake engineering and structural engineering, with a focus on seismic design codes, the dynamics of buildings, and post-earthquake studies. Beyond academia, Dr. Sudhir’s impact extends to international platforms, evident through his presidency of the International Association of Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) from 2014 to 2018 and his election as a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering in 2021.
