According to the reports shared by the New York Times, Elon Musk allegedly fired Twitter’s CEO Parag Agarwal and other top executives once the deal was completed. Ned Segal, CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and Vijaya Gadde, Head of Legal, are among the top names that departed from Twitter after Elon Musk finalised his deal for 44 billion dollars.
CEO Parag went to court in order to keep a hold on Musk while the term and conditions of the deal were being discussed. Court decided to appoint a deadline on the Tesla chief and urged him to seal his own deal with Twitter or purchase the social media site once and for all. On Thursday, Elon Musk shared a tweet, “because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner.” He conveyed his views along with a picture of him posing at the coffee bar of the Twitter headquarters.
The battle between Twitter’s CEO Parag & Elon Musk is finally coming to an end. This months-long enmity between the two was one of the most discussed topics on Twitter. It all started when Musk tweeted about his lack of confidence in the management team and how Twitter did not promote free speech and regulated the tweets accordingly. He also shared his views on free speech and how the extremists are affecting social media platforms and society. Tesla’s chief writes, “There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left-wing echo chambers that would generate more hate and divide the society. I didn’t do it because it would be easy, or I didn’t do it to make more money. I did it to try to help humanity, whom I love.”
Though netizens share mixed reviews on this new development, CEO Parag is not leaving the company empty-handed. The deal between Musk and Agarwal would result in providing $42 million to Parag.
