GCCs To Provide More Opportunities To Indian Engineers 

The Digital Skills and Salary Primer for FY 2025 report published by TeamLease Digital claims that the GCCs (Global Capacity Centres) will improve the geographical diversification of technology opportunities across the country. GCCs are growing in number in cities like Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and other tier 2 cities of the country. They further mentioned that the demand for individuals with skills in PyTorch, AWS, DevOps, NLP, Kubernetes, Hyperledger Fabric, Blockchain, Tableau, SQL, and ServiceNow will likely increase in the future. 

Further, according to the previously mentioned report, as of 2024, the tech market in India grew at a rate of 3.8% year over year, standing at a valuation of $254 billion, employing over 5.6 million people. 

Job and Salary Prospects

In the last four years, India has witnessed a growing trend in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), blockchain tech, IoT, robotic process automation (RPA), edge computing, and quantum computing with essential tools like Python, R, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, which is likely to increase in the coming years. More jobs will be created, and pay packages will also increase for these job roles. 

Digital Skills and Salary Primer for FY 2025 mentioned that GCCs will be offering AI/ML engineer job functions with a starting salary of Rs. 8.2 lakh per annum, which can go up to Rs. 43 lakh per annum, depending on seniority and experience level. This is  15%-20% higher than the earnings of beginners in the IT products and services sector, who can ask for payment starting at Rs. 9.7 LPA and may go up to Rs. 20.7 LPA with growing experience. However, the report also mentioned that only 2.5% of the engineers in the country possess AI skills, and merely 5.5% are qualified with basic programming abilities.
