Continuing this success, his commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion was acknowledged with the 2023 Outstanding Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiative award, co-organised by Business World and OSPA. This highlighted his role in championing respect and empowerment within the security sector. His pursuit of excellence garnered multiple awards from IFSEC in different years, including Excellence in Physical Security, Access Control Management, and Security Training Programs.

Can you detail your transition from the CISF to the corporate sector and the challenges you encountered in this shift?
Transitioning from the structured environment of the CISF to the corporate world posed unique challenges. In the paramilitary forces, there is a clear chain of command and defined protocols. Adapting to a more dynamic, teamoriented approach in the corporate sector was essential. Navigating the shift from a position of power in the CISF to a collaborative role in the corporate sector required a shift in mindset. Embracing a more consultative and team-driven approach was crucial.
How did you approach corporate security strategy, especially at Tata Steel, and what innovative methods ensured a secure environment with your extensive experience?
In the corporate sector, my approach extended beyond physical security to encompass data protection and privacy compliance. Implementing multi-layered security protocols, incorporating advanced surveillance technology, and collaborating with external experts were pivotal components. I spearheaded initiatives such as intelligence workshops and crisis management simulations, cultivating a proactive security culture within the organisation. Additionally, I introduced rigorous training programmes and customised security modules, empowering my team to effectively handle diverse challenges.
How did you approach safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring data protection standards in today's digital landscape?
Data security is a complex arena that demands constant vigilance. At Tata Steel, I implemented robust access control measures, encryption protocols, and regular security audits to safeguard sensitive data. Collaborating closely with the IT department, we fortified our cybersecurity measures, incorporating intrusion detection systems and providing comprehensive training on phishing awareness for employees. Compliance with global data protection standards was ensured through continuous monitoring and proactive measures, emphasising the significance of data integrity and privacy within the organisation.
How did you build a cohesive and skilled security team, and what strategies did you use to empower your team members?
Fostering a cohesive and skilled workforce in the security domain was achieved through a commitment to continuous training and development. I initiated specialised programmes, concentrating on intelligence gathering, surveillance techniques, and crisis management. Open communication channels were established to encourage team members to voice their ideas and concerns. By instilling a sense of ownership and responsibility, my team became highly skilled and motivated. Recognising their achievements and providing opportunities for certifications and workshops further enhanced their capabilities, creating a workforce adept at handling various security challenges.
In the tech-driven future, how do you envision technology shaping the security industry, and what adaptations should professionals make?
Technology is set to reshape the security industry significantly. Embracing innovations such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and IoT devices is paramount. Predictive analytics and real-time threat intelligence will become essential tools, empowering security professionals to anticipate and mitigate risks effectively. Biometric authentication, facial recognition, and blockchain technology will redefine access control and data protection standards. Security professionals must adapt, upskill, and leverage these technologies while maintaining a human-centric approach. Integrating these advancements into existing frameworks will be crucial for staying ahead of evolving threats and ensuring a safer future for businesses and society.
