Sanjay Bhargav was appointed as Country Director and chairman of the board for Starlink India in the month of October 2021.Â
Earlier, Bhargav Announced a target to build 200,000 terminals across India. But was waiting for the government approval on the same.Â
On 4th January Sanjay Bhargav got on Linkedin and wrote about his withdrawal from the company by stating that he no longer holds the post of Country Director in Starlink India and his reasons are completely personal, as he does not want to comment any further on this topic, and wants media to respect his privacy.Â
Starlink is owned by Elon Musk’s multimillionaire aerospace company SpaceX. Until December the company had received around 5,000 pre-orders from India, without having a proper commercial license.Â
Sanjay Bhargav’s resignation came after the statement by (DOT) Department of Telecommunications when Starlink was asked to take back the bookings from India without proper licensing. The Government also asked its people not to subscribe to the services of Starlink yet. To which the company has officially informed their customers regarding the refund policy and asked them to wait until they receive proper license to function in the country. Â
It is estimated that this could be one of the reasons behind Bhargav’s unexpected resignation from the post of Country Director in Starlink.Â
Starlink has noticed a rapid growth in providing satellite-based internet in the earth’s orbit. However, the warning issued by the government to unsubscribe from the services of Starlink, before proper commercial licensing can lead to a gradual depletion of Satrlink’s services in the country.  Â
