Noel Tata Will Be The New Chairman of Tata Trusts

After seven years of conflict, the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and Tata Group may work towards resolving their bitter corporate dispute after Noel Tata, known for a non-confrontational leadership style, takes charge of Tata Trust. According to some industrial sources, both parties may soon have a preliminary meeting. 

SP Group is Tata Sons’ largest minority shareholder, owning 18% of the shares. Both groups parted ways in 2016 when Cyrus Mistry (then chairman of Tata Sons) accused Ratan Tata of interfering with the company’s operations despite his retirement. He further accused him of compromised governance and making decisions driven by emotions rather than sound judgment. Before this, both families enjoyed cordial relations, and electing Cyrus Mistry as the Chairman of Tata Son in 2012 indicated this strong bond.

With the election of Noel Tata (Brother of Ratan Tata and son-in-law of Cyrus Mistry) as the chairman of Tata Trust, it is believed that bonds will improve again with the appointment. According to the business, Aloo Mistry, wife of Noel Tata, will act as the mediator between the two parties. 

As per some industrial sources, “Both Cyrus Mistry and Ratan Tata have passed away, and the legal dispute has been resolved, with the Supreme Court ruling in favor of the Tatas. There is no reason to hold on to past grievances.” further the analyst also mentioned that in the recent times the tension between the two families as ease up a bit. As in the AGM of Tata Sons,  SP Group’s representative left positive remarks on the growth of Tata.
