Microblogging platform ‘Twitter’ has officially announced ‘Blue for Business’. It is a subscription-based programme for companies that want to verify and distinguish themselves on Twitter. Now companies that get the Blue mark will have a gold check mark along with a square company badge. Similarly, businesses associated with the brand will have a blue check mark and a square company badge on their profile.
Twitter said that ━ with this, we are making it possible for businesses to create networks within their organisation. With this programme, businesses can affiliate their leadership, brands, support handles, employees or teams.
Journalists, sports team players and actors will be affiliated. The individual will be verified and officially linked to the parent handle based on the list provided by the parent business. This means the brands have to share the list of individuals and names of the sub-brands that they would like to associate with Twitter. The new criteria, prices and processes will soon be updated for the users.
Earlier every account had a blue tick, but now some of the accounts will be turned into Gold. Last month, CEO Elon Musk made an announcement regarding the check marks in which he said ━ “Gold check for companies, Grey check for government, Blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified account will be manually authentic before check activates.” He had tweeted about using different colours for check marks but recently fleshed out the details.
Though there is no information about how much Twitter will charge for blue business subscribers or if brands have to pay for all the affiliate accounts separately. As of now, regular Twitter blue costs $8 a month, and Twitter Blue for business is likely to be expensive.
According to Twitter, Blue for business is a great feature for organisations like newsrooms, sports clubs, etc., which allows them to link individuals with their businesses. Just like Twitter blue subscribers, each of the linked members of the companies will be verified by Twitter to ensure authenticity.
