The cabinet’s appointment committee on Saturday approved Vikram Dev Dutt’s appointment as Director General of the Directorate Of General Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Dutt is a 1993-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and United Territory) cadre and currently working as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Air India Assets Holding Ltd (AIAHL). Now he will take over as the head of the aviation regulator. The tenure will start on 28 February, and he will be succeeding the incumbent DGCA chief Arun Kumar.

According to reports, Dutt’s appointment will be in the rank and pay of an additional secretary to the Government. He will take charge of Arun by keeping the recruitment rules of the post in abeyance.
Arun Kumar was also an IAS officer from the 1989 batch and had been leading DGCA as its Director General since July 2019.
