10 Best HR Leaders in India 2022

Amrita Pandey

Sr. Vice President & Group Head – Human Resources

Purpose & Belonging Essential For Career Success

Some people choose to follow in the footsteps of their family while some create their own. Like every kid growing up in a middle-class family, Amrita dreamed of becoming a doctor just like her father. By the time she reached the critical juncture of time where she had to make a career choice, Amrita took a leap of faith and chose her own path to become an HR leader.
“I used to closely watch my father engrossed in his work. For quite a long time, I envisioned myself working in the same set-up, helping people and taking care of them. But as I grew up, I realised that even through my purpose is exactly the same as my father, touching people’s lives, but I must find a different way to fulfil it. I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. Helping them realise their potential. Empowering them to build their careers where they are happy and prosper so that they can set an example before their kids of what a fulfilling life truly looks like. This is what I am doing at Tenon Group. Every day, we receive hundreds of job applications from very talented aspirants. Knowing, guiding, and recruiting them makes me a part of their success journey. All of this reiterates that I made the right choice.”

10 Best HR Leaders in India 2022

From hiring as the prime role to now having a chair in the board room, HR’s role has transformed at a jet speed in recent times. More so, when the entire work has shifted to a virtual platform, HRs now need to be pro-technology. From using video conferencing tools to AI, ML and other software to hire, onboard, track work and even promote employees, a wide knowledge of technology has become a prime for the HRs. It is predicted that the global HR technology market will be worth $35.68 billion in 2028 at a CAGR of 5.8 per cent.
A business growth partner, HRs are transforming businesses through their unravelling ability to find talent and align them culturally to fit in with the mission and vision of the company. On the other hand, despite the inclusion of technology at a higher pace, HR is turning humane. There is a need for a more personal touch in the HR department as technology alone is insufficient to address several challenges and concerns related to employees.
In fact, this change can be attributed to COVID and the lockdown. When suddenly people had to start working virtually while dealing with the deadly virus, HRs had to manage the two sides of the coin – ensuring their work remains uninterrupted and that they remain connected with the team and management even virtually. However, none of the sides can work independently. Hence, HRs need to balance the act of being people’s managers and business growth partners whilst ensuring that the future hybrid work model is adapted in the best possible way.
In this current issue of TradeFlock, we bring to you the story of 10 such HR leaders who are transforming the way HRs manage their responsibility in our edition titled ‘10 Best HR Leaders in India – 2022’.
