Redefining Influence with Integrity and Intention.

Massimo Lucidi

President,

International Reputation Institute

Today’s leaders are shaping the world in subtle but powerful ways. Some do it through technology, others through bold disruption. Many build businesses, movements, or influence at scale. But occasionally, you come across someone whose leadership feels deeply personal, rooted not in ambition alone, but in meaning. Massimo Lucidi brings that kind of presence. He doesn’t enter the room to be heard—he enters to listen, connect, and build something lasting. In a time when influence is often measured by algorithms and reach, Massimo’s quiet power lies in the quality of relationships he fosters. His work bridges generations, cultures, and industries, with a consistency that speaks to conviction and care. Over the years, his journey has moved through journalism, emotional design, international relations, and corporate communication. With Fondazione e-novation and the Italian Excellence Award, he has created platforms that celebrate values, heritage, and innovation with equal weight. What ties it all together is his unwavering belief in human potential, expressed not through grand gestures but thoughtful action. We spoke with Massimo to understand the deeper story behind his work—his leadership philosophy, his path so far, and how he continues to inspire others by staying true to what matters.

What brought together journalism, emotional design, and business in your journey?

It started with storytelling—writing always felt like second nature to me. Journalism gave it purpose, emotional design gave it depth, and business gave it structure. Somewhere along the way, I realized, “emotions aren’t just feelings, they’re signals—we just need to know how to read them.” That’s when it all clicked. Creativity became my bridge between these worlds—not just to express, but to connect, move, and sometimes even spark change.

How do you turn your belief in quality relationships into action in high-stakes business?

In a world where companies can vanish overnight, I’ve learned to build relationships that outlast structures. “You have to show your face, always tell the truth,” because the trust you’ve earned stays when the strategy shifts or the brand disappears. It’s always about the individual, not just the company.

What does ‘Italianness’ mean to you beyond borders and culture?

It’s hard to define something that lives in your gestures, instincts, and way of seeing the world— but that’s exactly what Italianness is to me. It isn’t tied to borders or ancestry; it’s a feeling, a rhythm. It’s in how we speak with our hands, design with our hearts, and connect with others through emotion and beauty. Being Italian means belonging to a tradition of saints, poets, and explorers— people who are open-minded, value-driven, and deeply human. It’s a mindset, not a passport. A way of living that blends creativity with care, excellence with empathy, and always with a deep respect for life, for people, and the world around us.

What challenge did no MBA or degree prepare you for—and how did you handle it?

Sometimes, the biggest decisions aren’t made in boardrooms—but in moments of pure instinct. I’ll never forget launching the first Premio Eccellenza Italiana in Washington. No degree had prepared me for that level of chaos, excitement, and sleepless nights. I wasn’t following a plan—I was following a purpose. It was an action that perhaps an economics manual would have advised against, but I felt it was deeply right. In just a few weeks, we turned an idea into something the press called “Born Great.” That’s when I truly understood what leading with heart over logic means.

What does ‘ethical influence’ mean to you today?

In a world obsessed with clicks and algorithms, I often ask myself—what anchors us? Coming from a Catholic background and working closely with AI, I believe in algorethics—where ethics guide technology, not the other way around. Ethics is not a detail—it’s what keeps us human. Ethical influence means putting people before numbers and values before reach. It lets us not just rise or compete, but truly connect with others, with truth, and the world around us.

How do you define success in today’s fragmented world?

In a world that feels more disconnected than ever, I’ve seen success not as a personal milestone but as something shared. It starts close to home, with how we live our everyday lives and treat our families, friends, and communities.

“We truly grow only together, and any lasting success is built from that spirit. Even when responsibilities grow, I believe in carrying the same sense of community forward because no one goes far alone.”
