In considering what happens when we design humanity first into institutions, we need to recognise what humanity is, what purpose any benefits of prioritising humanity may serve, and how those benefits are prioritised in advance for when ‘business exigency’ calls for urgent action.Â
In this context we only need look at the current world disorder, essentially it is the results of some individuals and collectives/institutions’ actions, priorities, influences etc that are undeniably causing death, destruction, unnatural uncivilised and inhuman actions, anxiety, anguish and is likely causing long term mental ill health ( similar to the COVID pandemic ) among a vast majority of the world population. Â
If we recognise that that which is now missing is something that is hard to verbalise, ‘a world order’ if you will, something we have had until very recently, which was above and beyond all the plans, policies, documents, treaties, and agreements – that was/is Humanity.Â
It then becomes clear that the inevitability of encountering problems arises from NOT designing in humanity. Â
In exploring this our organisation Celebrate Our Similarities – COS has adopted an impactful global initiative called the Peace Education Program by Dr Prem Rawat tprf.org and his Intelligent Existence initiative which COS were lucky to collaborate/sponsor with other Conscious Leadership organisations in November 2025 on a unique Peace Training for Corporates in Hyderabad – I would recommend looking up the various web pages on this subject i4joy.com. Â
The accepted wisdom is that capitalism and commercial growth are necessary for creating an environment that allows citizens to make profits, secure jobs and income, enable public services through Taxes generated by citizens’ spending power, etc., a functioning society.Â
Within this context, we are beginning to realise that exponential growth and profits have created greed and insatiable consumerism, which is even threatening human existence through global warming. Young people, Gen Z, Millennials, etc., consider that the world’s resources are depleted due to the habits and decisions of older generations.Â
Some are using their power by voting with their feet, by favouring values and humanity-driven company policies when choosing who to work for. This shift is being recognised more by SMEs as there is an immediate impact on their ‘bottom line’. This will become more pronounced in the coming years as larger organisations and institutions are impacted by Environmental, Social, and Governance requirements introduced by worldwide and local government bodies. Â
Humans build companies; those who recognise and prioritise Humanity in the 21st century will be thanked by their own future generations.
