There was a time when childhood meant boundless imagination—when tree branches were wands and stories unfolded on blank pages. But today, creativity is slipping through the cracks in an education system driven by tests and timetables. In a world shaped by AI, automation, and critical thinking, the absence of creative thinking is a silent crisis. Ranjeeta Sahoo, CEO and Advisory Board Member of U-innov8, is leading a movement to reclaim that creative spark. With over 20 years of experience across premier institutions like Meridian, Sreenidhi International, KIIT International, Indus International, The Gaudium, and ABODE School, Ranjeeta brings a rare blend of classroom empathy and executive vision. Now at U-innov8, she works on a platform for young learners to equip them with essential 21st-century skills—Creative Thinking, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Communication—through a unique problemsolving framework and strategies. She believes education must evolve from conformity to creativity, from certainty to adaptability. And she’s not just theorising it— she’s building it step by step. In an exclusive interview with TradeFlock, Ranjeeta shares how her classroom experiences shaped her leadership philosophy, why India needs a creative education revolution now more than ever, and how U-innov8 redefines what it means to be “Prepared for the future.
Just as no two students learn the same way, no two team members think or contribute similarly —and that’s a strength.
What’s a classroom lesson that still shapes your leadership decisions today?
Some lessons never leave you—they just evolve. A lasting insight from my time in the classroom continues to shape my executive decisions: every individual brings a unique way of thinking, learning, and contributing. As an educator, I learned the value of differentiation and a personalised approach, understanding that one size doesn’t fit all. Today, that lesson translates into leadership that embraces diverse perspectives and creates space for varied voices to be heard. Whether setting a new strategic direction, building teams, or navigating complex challenges, I lead with collaboration and curiosity. I’ve learned that the best ideas often emerge from the most unexpected places. The open-mindedness I cultivated in the classroom remains a guiding force, reminding me that great leadership begins with listening, learning, and allowing others to thrive.
What does being “future-ready” mean in India, and how does your model stand apart?
In India, being “future-ready” means more than excelling in exams or landing traditional jobs—it’s about thriving in a fast-changing, tech-driven world. As we look ahead, the skills that matter most are those that help individuals adapt to uncertainty, solve real-world challenges, and think creatively.
“In a country as diverse and dynamic as India, students need both a strong skill foundation and a flexible, resilient, and future-focused mindset."
Reports from the World Economic Forum and OECD affirm this shift, highlighting that critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability are essential by 2030. Our approach reflects this reality. We focus not just on academic achievement but on nurturing well-rounded individuals through multi-modal, hands-on learning. Students collaborate in cohorts, tackle real-world problems, and sharpen the 4Cs—critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration.Through a hybrid model that blends creative in-person learning with digital collaboration, we mirror the interconnected world students will soon navigate. Our aim is not just to teach, but to transform how they learn, think, and engage with the world around them.
What inspires your educational philosophy, and how does it guide your leadership?
My educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that every learner holds immense potential—they just need the right space, support, and spark. I’m continually inspired by how far individuals can go when someone believes in them and gives them the tools to explore fearlessly. This belief guides my everyday decisions: crafting learning experiences that foster autonomy and relevance and nurturing an inclusive, respectful, and growth-driven culture. I lead with empowerment over instruction and possibility over prescription. Above all, I carry a deep sense of responsibility. In education, every choice can shape a future, making the work humbling and deeply meaningful.
What unconventional partnership made a surprising impact?
One of the most impactful—and unconventional—partnerships we’ve built is with expert mentors from diverse industries. Their guidance has been instrumental in strengthening our platform and shaping programs in creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. These mentors bring deep expertise and an unwavering commitment to supporting the development of future-ready skills. Their involvement ensures that our initiatives are grounded in real-world relevance, offering students access to practical insights and evolving industry perspectives. What makes this collaboration truly meaningful is its shared vision: building an ecosystem that nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and an entrepreneurial mindset, preparing students to thrive in a constantly evolving world.
What mindset shifts must educators make to prepare students for unknown future jobs?
Today’s most significant shift in education is understanding that we’re no longer preparing students for predefined roles— we’re empowering them to thrive in a future shaped by constant change. This demands a move beyond fixed curricula toward dynamic, continuous, and deeply human learning. Educators and institutions must now prioritise the development of core human skills—critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and emotional resilience. These capabilities will help learners adapt, lead, and contribute meaningfully, regardless of how the job landscape evolves.
We must also abandon rigid, one-size-fits-all models and embrace flexible, learner-centred approaches that encourage exploration, iteration, and self-discovery.
“The real power lies not in preparing students for one role, but in equipping them with the confidence to face uncertainty and the ability to learn how to learn.” This is the heart of future-ready education: a shift from teaching for certainty to teaching for adaptability. It begins with the courage to rethink the purpose and practice of education itself.
