Speaking with TradeFlock, Punit discusses his journey and work in the field of flexible packaging.

What was the key moment that revealed the potential of the flexible packaging industry?

My career took a decisive turn when I secured my first major FMCG client. This wasn’t just a business win—it was an awakening to the true power of flexible packaging. I recognised that packaging plays a pivotal role in safeguarding products, ensuring brand credibility, and enhancing the consumer experience. This moment changed my perspective, driving me to innovate relentlessly and position packaging as a strategic partner that fuels business growth and fosters long-term relationships. It cemented my belief that we could reshape the industry’s future by focusing on quality and collaboration.

What’s one mistake from your journey that taught you a valuable lesson and shaped your approach to business?

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learnt in my career came from a mistake that forced me to rethink how we operate as a business. It is underestimating the impact of educating our customers. Growing up in a family business founded in 1997, our primary focus was always on delivering high-quality products and building strong relationships with clients. However, we missed an essential component: sharing our industry knowledge and insights with those we served.

This oversight became apparent when many of our clients, especially brand owners, struggled with food safety and legal compliance, causing significant delays and potential risks to their businesses. It dawned on me that knowledge transfer was just as critical as the product itself. To correct this, I wrote Bag It Right to share our hard-earned lessons with others in the industry. Today, I’m working on a handbook on FSSAI and legal regulations to guide brand owners through the complexities of food safety laws. This mistake taught me that empowering others with knowledge not only strengthens their businesses but creates deeper, more trusting partnerships, which drives mutual growth and long-term success.

As a pioneer in packaging, how is your company embracing eco-friendly alternatives?

I view the future of eco-friendly alternatives in packaging as both an essential priority and an exciting opportunity for innovation. Sustainability drives everything we do at Jagannath, where we have pioneered sustainable solutions, securing three utility patents in the process. We are committed to providing eco-friendly alternatives while maintaining the highest quality standards. Our team works closely with clients to create customised solutions that reduce environmental impact. By participating in global events such as the Empack Show and Packaging Innovations show in Birmingham, we continue to showcase our leadership and commitment to shaping the future of sustainable packaging.

How do you balance running a company with personal well-being and relationships?

I believe that when you’re truly passionate about what you do, it naturally brings balance into your life. My work in the packaging industry excites me every day, whether it’s solving complex challenges or building meaningful relationships. This passion drives me to stay focused and motivated.

from my family. My parents, wife, and brothers provide unwavering support, grounding me in moments of intensity. Spending time with my daughter in Jaipur is one of the greatest joys in my life. From singing nursery rhymes together to her proudly saying, “P is for Papa” instead of parrot, these small moments remind me of what really matters. They help me recharge and maintain a healthy equilibrium, ensuring I can be fully present in both my professional and personal life.
