How do you see AI shaping education and training in the future?
At Analytics Vidhya, I’ve spearheaded upskilling programmes focused on emerging technologies like Generative AI, aiming to create interactive, engaging learning experiences. By utilising AI to auto-generate reports, quizzes, and hands-on examples, we’re reducing manual effort and enhancing efficiency. However, it’s crucial to ensure AI-generated content undergoes rigorous validation for quality. I believe AI will play a key role in transforming education, making it more dynamic and accessible. That said, it’s important to balance AI’s capabilities with human expertise, ensuring a focus on foundational knowledge and critical thinking to create meaningful and impactful learning experiences.
What causes are you passionate about, and how do you give back through your work?
I’m passionate about community initiatives, particularly in data and AI. Over the last decade, I’ve organised meetups, workshops, and training sessions to help people upskill globally. As Head of Community at Analytics Vidhya, I lead efforts to spread awareness about AI tools, research, and applications through blogs, free courses, webinars, and meetups, reaching over a million people worldwide each month. Giving back is central to my work and mission.
What global challenges are you passionate about, and how do you contribute to solutions?
Education is a key passion of mine, as lack of knowledge can hinder both individuals and organisations. I conduct workshops and upskilling sessions, focusing on emerging technologies like AI to help professionals future-proof their careers. Additionally, I’m dedicated to helping organisations with their digital transformation. By leveraging open-source tools, AI, and emerging technologies, I assist businesses in automating processes and improving efficiency. My approach focuses on cost-effective solutions that foster innovation, enabling organisations to harness the power of digital transformation and make advanced technology more accessible and actionable.
Can you share an example where an unconventional approach led to a breakthrough?
I’ve always believed in exploring early-stage research, even if it feels ahead of its time. While working on an intelligent assistant, I discovered a Google paper comparing long-context LLMs with traditional RAG systems. The paper suggested a hybrid approach: using RAG for simple queries and long-context LLMs when necessary. This method improved both efficiency and accuracy. By adopting this innovative strategy early, we enhanced the assistant’s performance and saw better customer adoption. This experience reinforced my belief in the value of early adoption and embracing unconventional approaches. As I always say, “Fail fast, fail early,” and keep innovating.
How does cultural diversity drive innovation in tech? Can you share an example?
Bias in AI systems, often originating from biased data, leads to biased decisions and outcomes. To address this, diversity within project teams—from data sourcing to system deployment—ensures a variety of perspectives, which ultimately results in more robust and inclusive AI solutions. Furthermore, AI ethics plays a crucial role in adhering to responsible practices. My global experience working with teams across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas has taught me that cultural diversity fosters solutions that are universally acceptable, reducing regional biases. Diverse approaches to problem-solving strengthen AI development, making it safer, more ethical, and trustworthy for all.
What hobbies contribute to your well-being and success?
I’m an avid reader, and enjoy collecting and playing video games, and watching documentaries on history, mystery, and crime. I also invest in financial markets and startups. These diverse interests help me maintain a holistic perspective, enriching both my personal well-being and professional success by keeping me informed, balanced, and motivated.
