According to the IMF World Economic Outlook for April 2025, India will become the fourth-largest Economy Globally, leaving behind Japan. Reports also indicate it will be the third-largest by 2028, overtaking Germany.
However, until 2024, India was the fifth-largest Economy in the world, but in 2025, it increased to fourth. The IMF also predicted that by 2028, Indiaās GDP would be 5 billion more than Germany’s, indicating that India will become a $5 trillion economy in 2027. The countryās economy is expected to increase by 6.2% in 2025 and 6.3% in 2026, surpassing many global equivalents.
India will lead the global economy in the upcoming years. The U.S.A. and China will continue to be the worldās top two largest economies in 2025, and they expect to maintain these rankings in the future; Indiaās name will be added as well.
