India’s largest commercial bank, SBI has announced that the former skipper of the Indian national cricket team, MS Dhoni will be appointed as the official brand ambassador. In his role as the official brand ambassador of the bank, Dhoni will take centre stage in the bank’s major marketing and promotional campaign.
In a press release, State Bank Of India wrote, “His remarkable capacity to maintain composure in stressful situations and his renowned ability for clear thinking and rapid decision-making under duress makes him the ideal choice that resonates with SBI, to connect with its customers and stakeholders across the country”.
State Bank of India is one of the largest banks in India. The bank’s home loan portfolio has increased to ₹6.53 crore from ₹ 1.32 lakh crore in 2022. As of 2023, the deposit base for SBI was around ₹45 lakh crore. While its CASA (Current Account/Saving Accounts) remained at 42%. When it comes to total market share, the bank has a total market share of 33.4% in home loans and 19% in car loans.
Earlier this month, MS Dhoni was asked by Reliance Industries Limited to be the brand ambassador of Jio Mart. Now, with this brand new deal with SBI, Dhoni adds another brand to his illustrious list of brands and companies. Previously, Dhoni has been involved with brands like Oreo, India Cements, Dream 11 and Reebok.
