Around 2:50 PM, as tourists reveled in the scenic beauty of Baisaran meadow, militants disguised in military uniforms emerged from the surrounding forests and unleashed a brutal assault. Eyewitnesses recounted how the assailants, numbering between four to six, initially posed as security personnel, engaging with the tourists before opening fire indiscriminately. The attack resulted in the death of at least 28 individuals, including 24 Indian nationals, two locals, and two foreign tourists from Nepal and the United Arab Emirates. Survivors described harrowing scenes where the attackers singled out individuals based on religious identity, demanding the recitation of Islamic verses and checking for circumcision to identify non-Muslims.
