Reliance Jio Rolls Out JioPC to Convert TVs into Cloud PCs

Reliance Jio unveiled JioPC, a cloud-driven desktop that transforms any TV into a complete PC.

The service runs via the Jio Set-Top Box, removing the necessity for an independent CPU, and is compatible with current JioFiber plans or available as a separate purchase.

JioPC enables users to connect a keyboard and mouse to their TV to access a cloud-hosted virtual desktop powered by Ubuntu Linux. Geared towards essential activities like web surfing, coding, e-learning, and document management, it currently does not support devices like webcams or printers.

JioPC is available on a flexible pay-as-you-go model with no long-term commitments or maintenance fees. Monthly plans begin at ₹599 plus GST, while extended packages offer bonus months ₹1,499 grants four months, and the annual ₹4,599 plan extends service to 15 months.

JioPC delivers a virtual setup with 4 CPUs, 8GB RAM, and 100GB cloud storage.It includes LibreOffice, browser-based Microsoft Office access, and a one-month trial of Jio Workspace with 512GB storage.

JioPC teams up with Adobe to provide free Adobe Express, enhancing creativity and productivity with AI tools for users without standard PCs.

JioPC depends on a reliable internet connection, as all processing occurs on remote servers. Its cloud-based design provides a cost-effective desktop solution for students and home users.
