How has leadership evolved since 2009, and how have multigenerational workplaces changed the way leaders operate?
Leadership since 2009 has evolved from rigid, hierarchical structures to more adaptive, collaborative, and people-centric approaches shaped by digital transformation, globalisation, and changing workforce expectations. The post-pandemic era further accelerated this shift, making communication faster, more transparent, and globally connected. Leaders today must balance operational efficiency with empathy, flexibility, and inclusivity. Financial disruptions, social media influence, rapid technological advancements, and the growing role of artificial intelligence have also transformed leadership styles.
At the same time, Gen Z and the emerging Gen Alpha workforce are redefining workplace culture by demanding greater transparency, purpose-driven leadership, flexibility, and meaningful professional engagement.
What do you consider the true indicators of organisational growth, and how do you measure them in your current role?
In the coal survey and testing industry, the most important KPIs revolve around financial stability, operational efficiency, quality assurance, and compliance. Metrics such as revenue growth per tonne, gross margin, customer concentration, and testing accuracy play a critical role in measuring performance.
At the same time, customer satisfaction, employee retention, and innovation are equally important indicators of long-term growth. I believe true organisational success comes from balancing strong financial outcomes with operational discipline and a healthy work culture.
Which emerging industry trend excites you the most, and how do you plan to adapt to it?
Artificial intelligence is moving beyond conventional software into real-world industrial applications, transforming sectors from manufacturing to healthcare. In third-party inspection and testing, AI is improving operational efficiency, testing accuracy, compliance, and decision-making. Its ability to adapt to real-world environments is making processes faster, smarter, and more reliable across industries.
What has been your biggest milestone so far, and how did you navigate a major challenge or turning point in your journey?
One of my biggest achievements has been earning the trust and continued support of clients throughout my professional journey with Geochem Laboratories Private Limited (Mitra SK). I worked closely with leading organisations such as MAHAGENCO, NTPC, Tata Power, Adani Group, Taranjot Group, and Mohit Minerals while expanding networks across India, Indonesia, South Africa, China, and Sri Lanka.
In November 2025, I founded Elegant Surveyors Private Limited with a strong management team and skilled professionals. During this crucial phase, I also underwent major heart surgery. Despite the health challenges, I remained focused on rebuilding relationships, overcoming obstacles, and achieving the goals I had set for the company within a remarkably short period of time.
What has been the toughest decision of your career, and what did it teach you?
One of the toughest decisions of my career was leaving a long-established organisation where I had worked at the director level and starting again from the ground up. Rebuilding connections, approaching new people, and re-establishing customer trust was not easy. At the same time, I was dealing with health challenges and the realities that come with age, yet I remained determined to build Elegant Surveyors Private Limited into a company capable of competing at the highest level.
Within a short span, ESPL began working with major organisations such as Tata Power, Adani, MAHAGENCO, Dalmia Cement, Nuvoco, Electrosteel, and several leading industrial plants and ports across India.
If you could go back to the beginning of your career, what would you do differently?
Earlier in my career, I focused more on providing quick answers. Over time, I realised that meaningful conversations come from listening carefully, questioning assumptions, and understanding the deeper purpose behind a discussion. That shift has helped me build stronger relationships and create more thoughtful, insight-driven interactions with people.
