The world’s three biggest shipping companies announced the temporary suspension of shipment to and from Russia on Tuesday in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Russia’s attack on its neighbour country, which Moscow called a “Special Operation”, is the biggest state-to-state invasion in Europe after World War II.
First, Swiss-headquartered MSC, the world’s biggest container shipping company by capacity, announced in a customer advisory that “a temporary stoppage on all cargo bookings to and from Russia, covering all access areas including Baltics, Black Sea and Far East Russia” as of March 1.
The supply will be applicable on all goods except foods, medical supplies and humanitarian supplies equipment, according to the shipping giant.
Second, Denmark Maersk, the second-biggest carrier after MSC, said separately it would temporarily halt all container shipping to/from Russia. It also added that the suspension covers all the Russian ports and will continue the exchange of foodstuffs, medical and humanitarian supplies.
Third, France’s CMA CGM, the world’s biggest container line, later announced on Tuesday that it had suspended all bookings to and from Russian until further notice due to safety concerns.
A similar move was already taken by Singapore-headquartered Ocean Network Express and Germany’s Hapag Lloyd, effectively cutting off Russia from the world’s leading container shipping companies.

Many countries halt the international exchange from Russia and the US with its allies block Russian banks’ access to the SWIFT international payment system.
Whereas Ukraine is getting internal support from more than 25 countries in terms of financial, medical, firearms, force etc.
So who is more powerful, Vladimir Putin or Volodymyr Zelenskky? Who will win this war, Russia or Ukraine? Will this war turn into World War III or will Putin and Zelenskky settle it?
