USA AI Advisory: Building An AI Proof Infrastructure

Countries worldwide are looking for ways to safeguard their infrastructure from AI attacks, and the USA has finally taken the first step towards devising a plan. The US government has formed an AI advisory. It has included tech leaders like Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Sundar Pichai of Alphabet, Sam Altman of OpenAI, Jensen Huang of Nvidia and 18 others. This board will advise the U.S. government on protecting critical infrastructure from AI-based attacks—for example, the power grids, airports, and transportation infrastructure.

The Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, also spoke about the newly formed board and said, “Artificial Intelligence is a transformative technology that can advance our national interests in unprecedented ways. At the same time, it presents real risks— risks that we can mitigate by adopting best practices and taking other studied concrete actions.” He further added, “It is not a board that will be focused on theory, but rather practical solutions for the implementation of AI in our nation’s daily life…It was very important to bring key developers of this extraordinary powerful tool” to the board.”

As mentioned above, this board includes 22 tech leaders. The AI advisory board will have Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins, Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky,  Advanced Micro Devices CEO Lisa Su, Deta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian, Occidental Petroleum Vicki Hollub, Northrop Grumman CEO Kathy Warden, Maryland Governor Wes Moore and Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell will also be on the AI advisory board.
