British Airways to Expand Services in India, Says COO

British Airways is planning to expand its service in India as demand for travel to the UK continues to grow significantly, the airline’s chief operating officer, Rene de Groot, said.  For over a century, the carrier has operated in India and is preparing to add more flights and expand its workforce presence as part of its long-term strategy for the country.

According to current data, the airline operates 56 weekly flights from India to London: three daily from Mumbai, two daily from Delhi, and one each from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Now, the airline is planning a third daily flight from Delhi, expected to start next year.

We are always looking to continue to expand our services as demand grows stronger. We continue to keep our network schedule under constant review to ensure we provide connectivity and choice for our customers,” Groot told the news agency. “As demand strengthens, we remain focused on expanding our services and elevating the travel experience.”

The airline’s network reach has also broadened through partnerships with other airlines. British Airways has a codeshare agreement with IndiGo, which operates to 13 Indian destinations, offering a total of 148 weekly flights to India via London with British Airways and Doha with Qatar Airways.
