Union Minister of India Prahlad Joshi called for global cooperation to help developing countries expand renewable energy capacity while still meeting their respective development goals. The minister for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) made the remarks at the 16th International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to an official statement.
He stated that the global energy transition will need solid investment and cooperation. Focusing on India alone, which will require approximately $300 billion by 2030, creates significant opportunities across renewable generation, storage, green hydrogen, grids, and manufacturing, he said.
India remains one of the most attractive destinations for clean energy investment, thanks to stable policies and transparent markets.
“Calling for enhanced international cooperation, Shri Joshi stressed the importance of technology transfer, access to low-cost finance, capacity building and harmonisation of standards, particularly to support developing countries in scaling up renewable energy without compromising development aspirations,” Prahlad Joshi quoted in his statement.
He said that India is ready to share its experience, institutions, and technical expertise, and to collaborate closely with all member countries, especially least developed nations and small island developing states, to accelerate the global renewable energy transition.
