India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-chaired the AI (Artificial Intelligence) Action Summit 2025 alongside French President Emmanuel Macron on February 11, 2025. The week-long summit began on February 6 and was attended by global leaders, policymakers, and industry veterans. It’s the third edition of the AI Action Summit.
PM Modi arrived for the event in Paris on Monday, February 10, 2025. The event commenced with a dinner hosted by Emmanual Macron at Elysee Palace on the same day. State and government heads, international organisation leaders, major AI company CEOs (Chief Executive Officers), etc., gathered for the dinner.
Ahead of his departure for Paris, PM Modi shared this information via his X account. He posted, “Over the next few days, I will be in France and the USA to take part in various programmes. In France, I will be taking part in the AI Action Summit, where India is the co-chair. I will be holding talks with President @EmmnanualMacron towards strengthening India-France relations. We will also be going to Marseille to inaugurate a Consulate there.”
PM Modi delivered the opening address and shared that the world is at the dawn of the AI age. He highlighted that AI differs from other technologies invented throughout history and called for collective global efforts to address risks and build trust.
Narendra Modi requested that technology and its people-centric applications be democratised to realise sustainable development goals. Referring to the success of the India-France sustainability partnership through initiatives like the International Solar Alliance, PM Modi shared that it is natural that both nations are joining forces to forge an innovative partnership to build a better future.
Narendra Modi highlighted India’s success in building a Digital Public Infrastructure for its 1.4 billion citizens. He noted that India is building its own LLM (Large Language Mode) for AI, which will benefit everyone. After this, the Indian Prime Minister also announced that India will hold the next AI Action Summit.
