Her mother holds a PhD and her father Tej Pratap Singh is a biophysicist who works at All India Institute of Medical Science. She completed her school education in 2001 from Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram. Later that year she cleared the IIT exam and enrolled herself in IIT Madras under the electrical engineering program. 

In 2005, she got her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and went on to do an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. She got her MBA degree in 2007. After completing her internship at Deutsche bank she was offered a job by them but she rejected the offer and started a lingerie company based on her research with some of her fellow graduates. In IIM Ahmedabad, she met Kaushik Mukherjee and in 2011 they got married and now have 2 sons with him. Kaushik is a triathlete and frequently runs marathons and is a vital part of Vineeta Singh success story. He has participated in over 20 marathons or ultramarathons and 12 half-marathons. Vineeta herself took part in an 89 km long comrades marathon. She also ran the IronMan marathon in Austria in 2017 and the Mumbai marathon in 2018. As we mentioned above sugar cosmetics was not Vineeta’s first start-up, she started a lingerie company previously.  Vineeta Singh success story started in 2007 when she started her first solo start-up by the name of Quetzal but it never flourished and Vineeta had to close it. Then in 2012, she started Fab Bag which was a beauty product delivery platform based on subscription, but this startup too couldn’t make it. 

Then, she started her third startup with her husband. That startup was called Sugar Cosmetics. The company sold cosmetic products and personal care products. Her biggest investment from the whole show was in Insurance Samadhan in which she invested ₹1 crore for 4% equity in the company. Vineeta’s 2nd biggest investment was in NOCD (No Carbs Energy Drinks) for ₹50 Lakh for 7.5% equity. On top of that, she also appeared in the show as a contestant where she pitched her company in front of other sharks and they invested ₹5 crore in Sugar Cosmetics.
