Meta added new features and programs to the WhatsApp Business app in India to help businesses communicate more easily with customers. This news was shared during the first WhatsApp Business Summit in India on September 12.
“These features and programs, which we are announcing today, demonstrate our commitment to helping businesses maximise their value per dollar while providing exceptional customer experiences on WhatsApp,” Sandhya Devanathan, vice president of Meta in India, said in the release.
The new features include Meta Verified and Customised Messages. To access these features, WhatsApp Business users need to update their app. In one update, users will get their account meta verified. This will provide businesses with a verified badge, impersonation protection, account support, and premium features to enhance brand promotion and facilitate customer communication.
Another feature of WhatsApp Business enables small businesses to create customised messages for their customers and schedule when they want them to be sent. This feature can be used for e-appointment reminders, birthday greetings, and updates on holiday sales.
Meta is also introducing in-person and online training for WhatsApp Business users in India to help them understand the features and make the most of the app. In-person training will be offered in several cities in the country, explaining how to set up WhatsApp Business, create catalogues, and set up clickable ads. Online training will be available on the company’s website.
“The ubiquity and ease of WhatsApp Business places it at the centre of India’s transformation, helping businesses fuel compelling ideas and new models of growth,” Devanathan said.
India is a developing country growing tremendously because of the implementation of advanced technology in every sector, including businesses. Today, India has 291.58 million WhatsApp Business downloads, showing that these new features will help small businesses grow.
