Meta India Gets New Head: Sandhya Devanathan

On Thursday, Meta announced the appointment of Sandhya Devanathan as the Head and Vice President of Meta India. This appointment came a day after Ajit Mohan quit to join a rival social media app Snap. She will get into her new role on January 1, 2023.

In her role, Sandhya will focus on the business and revenue priorities of the organisation to serve its partner and clients. Besides this, her main aim would be to support the growth of Meta’s business in India.

“I’m pleased to welcome Sandhya as our new leader for India. Sandhya has a proven track record of scaling businesses, building exceptional and inclusive teams, driving product innovation and building strong partnerships. We are thrilled to have her lead Meta’s continued growth in India”, Marne Levine, Chief Business Officer at Meta, said in a statement while welcoming her.

Being the head of India Meta, she will be a part of the APAC leadership team. She will superhead the charter and strengthen the strategic relationships with the country’s leading brands, creators, advertisers and partners to drive Meta’s revenue growth in key channels in India.

Sandhya Devanathan comes with 22 years of rich experience as a global business leader. She also holds an international career in baking, payments and technology. She joined Meta in 2016 and helped the company build Singapore and Vietnam businesses and teams.

Overall, she is an inspirational woman personality with different international business experiences, including the gaming and finance industry. Her extensive knowledge in various sectors made her earn this crown.

Her appointment follows the resignation of Whatsapp India Head Abhijit Bose and Director Public Policy Meta India Rajiv Agarwal from their posts earlier this week.

In addition, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced reducing the team’s size, cutting over 11,000 jobs. The company recently fired 11,00 employees, almost 10% of the giant workforce.
