Redefining Aquaculture Entrepreneurship
ABHISHEK DWIVEDY
Chief Executive Officer
Aquapulse
“Entrepreneurship isn’t about chasing trends—it’s about solving the challenges right in front of you.”
F or Abhishek Dwivedy, Co-Founder & CEO of Aquapulse, this belief isn’t just a mantra—it’s the guiding force behind his entrepreneurial journey. Since becoming a co-founder & CEO of Aquapulse in 2024, Abhishek has embodied the essence of the modern entrepreneur: combining technological innovation with a deep, farmer-centric approach to business. In an era where disruption is often celebrated for its own sake, Abhishek took a different path—where real-world impact takes precedence over buzzwords. As the CAGR of the aquaculture sector is fast expanding & outpacing India’s GDP and providing livelihoods to millions, Abhishek saw an opportunity to not only introduce new technology but to redefine how it could solve key industry challenges. By integrating AI and real-time analytics tools, Aquapulse empowers aquaculture farmers to make data-driven decisions, ensuring stability and growth in unpredictable environments. This focus on providing tangible solutions has significantly boosted farmers’ productivity while also driving sustainability—a balance that Abhishek believes is key to modern entrepreneurship. Reflecting on his approach, Abhishek shared in his interview with TradeFlock, “True innovation doesn’t stop at technological advancements—it addresses human needs and creates long-term value.” His vision exemplifies today’s entrepreneurial landscape, where success is measured not just in numbers but in the positive change brought to industries and communities.
What key insights from your time as an Aquaculture Consultant influenced Aquapulse’s innovative practices?
During my time as an Aquaculture Consultant, I saw how farmers were battling inefficiencies, outdated tools, and unpredictable weather that put their livelihoods at risk. This firsthand experience showed me the incredible potential for technology to transform the way they work. It wasn’t just about improving processes—it was about giving farmers real-time insights and control over their operations. This understanding shaped Aquapulse’s mission: to provide farmers with the tools they need to make smarter, faster decisions, reduce losses, and ultimately thrive in an unpredictable culture environment.
How do you stay agile in a specialised, fast-evolving industry with technology and sustainability challenges?
In such a specialised and fast-evolving field like aquaculture, staying agile is all about embracing change and being proactive. For me, it’s about constantly learning and adapting, using data and technology to make smart, informed decisions. I stay connected with research bodies, partner with environmental organisations, and attend key industry events to keep up with emerging trends. But more than anything, I’ve fostered a culture of innovation at Aquapulse, where we’re always ready to pivot, scale, or experiment with new ideas. This forward-thinking approach keeps me not just responsive to change but always one step ahead.
What other areas in aquaculture or food-tech interest you, and how do you plan to diversify Aquapulse while staying true to its sustainability mission?
Aquapulse is venturing into the larger global market of Southeast Asia, EU & USA, focusing on the processed species segment, aiming to diversify while staying true to our core sustainability mission. This expansion taps into the rising demand for highquality, ethically sourced seafood in the aquaculture industry. We’re positioned to supply premium, antibiotic-free shrimp and other sustainable seafood directly to highend buyers, supplying wholesale and retail supply chains by harnessing our advanced post-harvest technology. As I often remind our team, “Growth should never come at the cost of our values; it should amplify them.” This expansion opens new revenue streams while reinforcing Aquapulse’s reputation as a leader in sustainable aquaculture. We’re scaling operations and enhancing our digital platform to ensure this growth aligns with our commitment to sustainability.
What was the biggest challenge in launching Aquapulse, and how did you overcome it?
Ideas are easy, implementation is hard, and launching Aquapulse was no exception. As most farmers were deeply rooted in traditional farming methods, earning their trust and encouraging them to embrace more sustainable, tech-driven solutions was one of the biggest early-stage challenges. However, we managed it through a comprehensive farmer-focused training program highlighting the benefits of adopting these new practices, from improved yields to better market prices. We also provided hands-on demonstrations of our segregated ice slurry technology, which preserves shrimp quality and reduces spoilage. A good learning from this, which is still fuelling our growth, is that “Innovation isn’t always about replacing traditions; it’s about enhancing them for a better future.”
Can you share a failure that taught you a valuable leadership lesson and shaped your approach?
Early on, we faced a significant setback when a pilot program to introduce satellite-based farm monitoring hit delays due to technical glitches and unexpected internet connectivity issues in rural areas. It was a tough lesson in the importance of contingency planning and the critical role infrastructure plays in deploying tech solutions. This experience taught me the value of building resilience in everything we do. We developed more robust backup systems and integrated offline features into our applications. It shaped how I approach product development, ensuring our solutions thrive even in low-resource environments
