India To Surpass Japan and Germany In Economic Growth

The annual meeting of Tamil Magazine ‘Thuglak’ took place in Chennai on January 14, 2025. It was the 51st anniversary of Thuglak, which Cho Ramaswamy founded on January 17, 1970. Many politicians, including Amit Shah, LK Advani, and PM Narendra Modi, attended this annual meeting.

Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, addressed the Tamil Magazine meeting. He said in the meeting that India will surpass Japan and Germany to become the world’s third-largest economy. He added that PM Modi has brought India’s GDP to fifth place from 11th place in the last ten years.

In 2014, P Chidambaram, the Union Finance Minister, predicted in his budget that in the upcoming 3 decades, India’s nominal GDP will be ahead of the US and China.

Further in the meeting, Piyush Goyal said 10 Christian majorities, 8 Muslim majorities, and 1 Buddhist majority countries, totalling 19 nations, have decorated PM Modi with the highest civilian honour. This is a strong counter to false narratives some people are spreading to damage Mr Modi’s image.
At the end of his speech in the Tamil Magazine meeting, Piyush Goyal said Mr Modi is the most inclusive leader with true secularism in the whole world. PM Modi does not believe in appeasement politics and believes in “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.”
