Raj Subramaniam named new CEO of FedEx, replacing Fred Smith 

Raj Subramaniam will soon take over as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at FedEx. The US-based multinational company FedEx announced on Monday stating that Indian-American Raj Subramaniam will replace the Founder and CEO Fredrik W Smith. Sources state that Fredrick Smith would step down from his position on 1st June 2022. 

After stepping down from the position Fred Smith would take the charge as new executive chairman of the multinational courier service. In an official statement, Smith said, “As we look toward what’s next, I have a great sense of satisfaction that a leader of the calibre of Raj Subramaniam will take FedEx into a very successful future.” 

Once Mr Fred Smith steps out of his position as CEO, he said he wants to focus on the Board of Governance and consider other factors such as sustainability, global importance and the innovative path of the company. He is interested to work on public policy and believes that Mr Raj Subramaniam is capable enough to look after the company and its mainstream decision making.  

FedEx was founded by Smith in 1971, the headquarters are stated in Tennessee, US. The multinational company is now operating with more than 600,000 employees worldwide. Raj Subramaniam is currently operating as the president of FedEx Express. He has also served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communication Officer of FedEx Corp. 

In an official statement issued by FedEx, Raj Subramaniam stated, “Fred is a visionary leader and a legend of the business world. He founded one of the world’s greatest and most admired companies, and it is my honour and privilege to step into this role and build upon what he has created.”
