Reliance And Nvidia’s Strategic Partnership In India

Chip behemoth Nvidia and Reliance Industries announced a partnership to bring an AI revolution to India. This move could significantly accelerate the country’s artificial intelligence capabilities. The announcement came during a fireside chat between Mukesh Ambani, the Reliance Chairman, and Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, at the Nvidia AI Summit 2024 held in Mumbai.

During the meeting, Huang told Mr Ambani, “This is an excellent opportunity for India to have a large population and a large population of computer engineers. This is such an extraordinary time. I am honoured and privileged to get to partner with you for this.”

Huang added, “In just one year’s time, by the end of this year, we will have nearly 20 times more computer capability here in India than just a little over a year ago.” Ambani said, “Apart from the US and China, India has the best digital connectivity infrastructure.” “Counting on Nvidia to deliver good quality AI infrastructure just the way Jio did it in telecom.”

After this partnership, Ambani-led Reliance Industries will use Nvidia’s latest GV 200 supercomputer tech to build a massive AI infrastructure in India. This collaboration aims, making AI accessible and affordable to 1.4 billion residents of the country.
Chip behemoth Nvidia has a near monopoly on computing systems that power services like ChatGPT. The partnership will provide Reliance access to the latest version of Nvidia Grace Hopper Superchip. Ambani’s Reliance shared that the new AI infrastructure will boost India’s major AI projects, like chatbots, drug discovery, and climate research.
