When Rishika Namdev realised that modern convenience had quietly replaced natural healing with chemical substitutes, she made a choice that would redefine her path. Frustrated by a wellness industry driven by speed, scale, and shelf life, she began questioning what health truly meant in a world where supplements promised vitality but often fell short. For Rishika, this disconnect could not be ignored.
A firm believer that nature is the most powerful healer, she chose to step away from the noise and return to first principles. Ayurveda, she believed, had never failed humanity; it had merely been sidelined. In its plant-based wisdom and time-tested formulations, she found relevance, not nostalgia. The earth already provided everything needed to thrive; what was missing was integrity in sourcing, preparation, and delivery.
This clarity of purpose led to the creation of Saptamveda in 2020, launched amid the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting as a small, home-based venture with just three products, Rishika leveraged the digital ecosystem to reach individuals newly aware of immunity, balance, and holistic health. With no physical storefront and limited resources, conviction became her greatest asset.
Saptamveda reflects her values—purity over profit through small-batch production, a farmer-first approach with organic cultivation, and empowerment through education. For Rishika, Saptamveda is a conscious movement to restore trust in nature, honour ancient wisdom, and offer healing without compromise.
How? She discusses this and more with TradeFlock in this exclusive interview.
How does Saptamveda ensure products honour Ayurveda, meet modern quality, and respond to customer feedback?
I don’t see traditional wisdom and modern standards as opposing forces. They complement each other. Ayurveda provides the purpose and formulation, while modern science ensures safety, consistency, and credibility. At Saptamveda, every product begins with classical Ayurvedic knowledge and is refined with contemporary quality practices. We follow small-batch manufacturing to preserve herb potency and maintain full traceability, with rigorous testing for heavy metals, pesticides, and microbial purity, partnering only with farmers committed to organic cultivation.
To suit modern lifestyles, we offer Ayurvedic remedies in convenient formats like tablets and capsules without compromising purity or intent. Customer feedback is central to our evolution. From the early days, I personally review inputs to refine taste, usability, and transparency. This ongoing dialogue ensures our products remain trusted, relevant, and effective, seamlessly blending ancient wisdom with modern living.
What challenges have you faced as a woman founder, and how did you grow Saptamveda?
When I started Saptamveda, many assumed it was a hobby rather than a serious business. There were also doubts about whether a woman could lead in manufacturing spaces. Instead of internalising them, I focused on building something meaningful. Today, over 15 women work in our packaging unit, and most of the team is women-led—a shift that feels deeply personal.
Launching during the pandemic meant adapting quickly. With no physical stores and limited resources, I embraced e-commerce and learnt digital operations from scratch. Balancing family life alongside a growing startup taught me the value of delegation and structure, while navigating male-dominated supply chains demanded confidence. Each challenge strengthened my resolve, shaping Saptamveda into a resilient, purpose-driven brand.
What sets Saptamveda apart in a crowded wellness market, and how do you earn customer trust?
A crowded wellness market makes it easy for brands to hide behind the word “natural”, but Saptamveda was always meant to be more than a label. From the start, my goal was to build a brand with integrity, not just follow trends or scale rapidly.A key differentiator is our small-batch approach. Producing in limited quantities preserves the freshness and potency of herbs like moringa and ashwagandha while ensuring full traceability. I know exactly where each ingredient comes from and how it’s processed, guaranteeing quality at every step.Trust is built through transparency. We work with organic farmers, avoid synthetic fillers, and test every batch for purity and safety. We also make Ayurveda practical for modern life—offering smart blends, soups, tablets, and capsules that fit busy routines. Most importantly, Saptamveda remains personal: I listen to feedback, adapt continuously, and uphold the same standards I would for my own family.
Where do you see Saptamveda heading in the future?
At Saptamveda, our vision is Ayurveda 2.0, bringing ancient wisdom into modern, practical living. While powders and tablets remain our foundation, we are expanding into functional foods and beverages, including herbal shots, breakfast blends, ready-to-consume superfood soups, and targeted solutions for women’s health, gut wellness, and natural ageing.
India will always be our home, but we aim to reach North America and Europe, showing that Indian botanical wellness can meet global standards. Beyond products, we focus on empowering consumers, supporting organic farmers, and setting new benchmarks for purity, transparency, and traceability in wellness.
