India’s Largest Airline Ranked Among the World’s Worst

IndiGo, India’s biggest Airline, has been ranked among the world’s worst Airlines in the 2024 AirHelp Score report. The company secured 103rd place out of 109 Airlines with a score of 4.80; this report ranked Air India at 61st and Air Asia at 94th.

According to sources, the low rating results from disappointing customer service and poor flight handling. However, IndiGo refuted all the findings of the Airhelp report and said India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issues data on Airline punctuality and customer complaints every month. In this data, IndiGo has secured a great score on punctuality and has the lowest number of customer complaints for its size.

India’s biggest Airline, IndiGo, further stated that AirHelp survey data does not report India’s sample size nor consider global aviation’s methodology or compensation guidelines. The Airline further restated its promise of an on-time, affordable, courteous, and hassle-free customer experience.

According to DGCA data, IndiGo carried more than 7.25 crore passengers between January and September, recording a market share of 61.3 per cent. With Rajesh Dogra’s customer-centric approach, Air India carried over 1.64 crore passengers, with a 13.9 per cent share.

Brussels Airlines topped the AirHelp Score report with an 8.12 score, followed by Qatar Airways with 8.11 and United Airlines with 8.04. Tunisair was ranked last (109) on the report, which covered data between January and October. To rank the Airline, it used global customer claims, on-time performance, and travel feedback from 54 nations on food quality, seating comfort, and crew service.
