Initial Career Path and Education

Rishabh Nagpal’s professional journey began with a solid educational foundation. He holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the prestigious Delhi School of Economics and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. His academic achievements laid the groundwork for a career characterised by continuous learning and professional growth. His career commenced in 1999 at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, where he served as an Executive-HR. This role provided him with initial exposure to the intricacies of human resource management in a dynamic industry. His early experiences at Honda set the stage for progressively responsible roles in various organisations.

Diverse Professional Experiences

Rishabh’s professional journey includes significant stints at several renowned companies. After his tenure at Honda, he joined Dell Perot Systems as Manager of Corporate HR, where he was responsible for global compensation and benefits as well as HR operations. In 2007, he transitioned to Tech Mahindra as Senior Manager of Recruitment, further honing his talent acquisition and management skills. His journey continued at IBM and Huawei Telecommunications, where he held substantial HR roles. At Huawei, he was General Human Resources Manager, leading HR strategies and operations. These roles equipped him with a deep understanding of the global HR landscape and the ability to navigate complex organisational structures.

Joining Samsung Electronics

In September 2014, Rishabh Nagpal joined Samsung Electronics India as General Manager of HR. Over the next decade, he climbed the ranks to become Senior Director of HR, and in May 2024, he was elevated to the position of Chief People Officer. His tenure at Samsung has been marked by significant contributions to the company’s HR functions across the South West Asia region. 

Rishabh has led several critical HR initiatives, including Total Rewards, Talent Management, and HR Operations. His efforts have been instrumental in the HR transformation initiatives and the establishment of HR Shared Services that cater not only to the Indian market but also to the Middle East and Africa regions. Under his leadership, Samsung has enhanced its human resources capabilities, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of technological advancement and employee satisfaction.

In the rapidly evolving tech industry, staying ahead of technological advancements and ensuring organisational agility are constant challenges. Nagpal has significantly improved HR processes and employee engagement by implementing comprehensive HR strategies and leveraging technology. His focus on automation and transformation initiatives has led to operational excellence and enhanced organisational compliance and governance.

His efforts have been recognised through various awards and accolades, highlighting his contributions to human resources. His achievements include leading Samsung to win the Operational Excellence in Audit Compliance and Governance Award and being a finalist for the Finance Team of the Year Award at the FutureCFO Excellence Awards 2022 in Singapore. These accolades underscore his commitment to excellence and ability to drive impactful organisational change.

A Leader Beyond Work 

Beyond his professional achievements, Rishabh Nagpal is known for his professional organisational involvement. He has held key leadership roles, including serving as Past President and Chairman of the Board and currently as Director at the Institute of Management Accountants – PH. Under his leadership, the IMA PH Chapter achieved significant milestones, including winning the IMA Global Awards for Chapter of Excellence Gold Award and Chapter Activity Platinum Award. His dedication to his profession and passion for innovation and excellence earned him recognition as one of the Top 100 Filipinos on LinkedIn in 2021. His journey is a source of inspiration for many aspiring HR professionals and leaders.
