The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has imposed a 10% fine on Rapido Company for deceiving its customers through advertisements and unfair trade practices.
CCPA also ordered Rapido to compensate customers who used its auto in 5 minutes or Get the Rs 50 offer. Still, they did not receive the promised payment, the consumer ministry of affairs said on Thursday.
The Watchdog acted after examining Rapido’s deceptive advertisements, which claimed an auto in 5 minutes or offered Rs 50. National Consumer Helpline shows data in which consumers complained against Rapido, which rose to 1,224 between June 2024 and July 2025, compared to the 575 in the previous 14 months.
The CCPA research revealed that the Rapido ad’s disclaimer font is very small, making it almost unreadable for people. The promised Rs 50 benefit was actually “Rapido coins” valued at “up to Rs 50,” which could only be used for bike rides and expired within seven days.
According to the Guidelines for Prevention of Misleading Advertisements and Endorsements 2022, a disclaimer cannot oppose primary claims or hide material information. The Authority asserted that Rapido overlooked important limitations without justification and violated the established terms.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority advises customers to be cautious of ads that claim ‘guaranteed’ or ‘assured’ promises without exact conditions. The Authority also urges you to call the National Consumer Helpline at 1915 or use the website or NCH to file complaints
The authorities have ordered Rapido to stop its misleading advertisements immediately.
