IHCL to Establish a New Taj Hotel in Mumbai in 4 Years 

Tata Group-backed Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) will build a new Taj hotel named Taj Bandstand in Mumbai. The company invested â‚ą2500 crore for the project and has received all approvals, including IOD (Intimation of Disapproval) and provisional Fire NOC (No Objection Certificate). 

This new Taj Bandstand will comprise 330 rooms, 85 apartments, and convention spaces and will be constructed in Bandra opposite the existing hotel “Taj Lands End.” 

On Monday, February 10, 2025, Bhoomi Pujan for the project took place. Here, the IHCL managing director and CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Puneet Chhatwaal shares that the company is planning to start hotel construction in 2025 and complete it in 4 years.

Puneet Chhatwaal stated, “Together, Taj Lands End and Taj Bandstand) it could offer about 800 to 850 rooms with or without apartments, and with the combined conference facilities, it will establish a completely new micro-destination within Mumbai.”

The Taj Bandstand Hotel will be constructed on a 2-acre plot of land on the seaside. Previously, the Sea Rock Hotel, owned by Suresh Nanda, Cleridge Hotel Chairman, was established here. That hotel was damaged during the 1993 terror attack. IHCL purchased this land for â‚ą680 crore.
