The Indian economy is the fastest-growing in the world, and startups have played a huge role in its growth. As many as 100,000 startups were started in 2023 alone. For this reason, the government of India introduced a three-day event in Delhi called the ‘Startup Mahakumbh’. The event’s sole purpose was to bolster the Indian startup ecosystem and attract investment for startups.
The event, which started on 18 March at the Bharat Madapam in New Delhi, is supposed to conclude today with a speech by PM Narendra Modi. The event was organised by the Indian government and leading industry associates like the Indian Venture And Alternate Capital Association and Bootstrap Incubation and Advisory Foundation.
Here are a few highlights of the Startup Mahakumbh event-
- According to the Ministry Of Commerce and Industry statement, the event gained unprecedented participation, which will help grow emerging sectors like DeepTech, MedTech, AgriTech, AI, and gaming.
- The event saw participation from around 2000+ startups, 1000+ investors, 100+ unicorns, 300+ incubators and accelerators, 3000+ conference delegates, 10+ country delegates, 3000+ future entrepreneurs and around 50,000+ business visitors.
- Industry leaders addressed the entrepreneur and attendees and emphasised the importance of startups in the country’s growth, development and economic progress.
- The event features 10 thematic pavilions that showcase innovation in the fields of Biotech and Pharma, Climate Tech, Gaming and E-sports, DeepTech, AI and SaaS, Fintech, Agritech, D2C, B2B, Manufacturing, and Incubators.
- A dedicated space was allotted to entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative products to investors present at the event and bag a good investment.
- Entrepreneurs commenced an interaction session with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade officials, who offered insight into various government schemes and programs to help the startups, such as funding schemes and mentorship programs.
The first-ever ‘Startup Mahakumbh’ was a success as many startups were able to secure funding and get insight into the schemes and programs run by the government to promote startups and entrepreneurship. There are a lot of startups to watch for in India in 2024, and most of them were there in the Startup Mahakumbh. Today, PM Modi will address the attendees and part them with a few words of wisdom.
