From building J2EE programs as a young software engineer to steering billion-dollar digital agendas for some of the world’s most recognised companies, Reema Jain’s career is a striking testament to what strategic progression in technology leadership looks like. Over two decades, she has evolved from a hands-on technologist into a globally respected digital transformation leader, currently serving as Global Vice President – Digital Technology & Head of Global Capability Centre (India Hub) at Unilever.
Her journey is not merely defined by job titles; it is marked by a consistent ability to foresee what’s next, build what’s needed, and lead with impact.
Building the Foundation
Reema’s early years at Mphasis and GE provided her with the grounding that would become her hallmark—technical rigour blended with process excellence. At GE, she rose through the ranks, from systems analyst to Lean Six Sigma Black Belt to Oracle Technology Leader, eventually managing ERP platforms for multi-billion-dollar businesses. She wasn’t just managing IT, but she was optimising it for speed, cost, and global scale.
With more than 13 years at GE, Reema led 30+ projects across NPI, quality, and ERP upgrades, often transforming support models and engineering efficiencies across geographies. This foundation of engineering, operations, and quality management served as the perfect launchpad for her next leap.
Scaling Vision
The turning point came when Reema stepped into Unilever in 2016. As IT Director for ERP Applications and later for Digital Integration and Supply Chain, she led mission-critical programmes that directly influenced Unilever’s $50B annual turnover. She played a key role in developing and scaling Unilever’s global digital supply chain, built agile platforms for factory logistics, and championed cloud-first strategies that significantly enhanced responsiveness and cost efficiency.
Her hallmark during this phase was systems thinking—architecting scalable solutions that were deeply aligned with business goals. At a time when many viewed IT as a support function, Reema was already positioning it as a strategic growth engine.
Reinventing Enterprises
In 2021, Reema moved into the telecom sector as Chief Digital Officer at Vodafone Idea. With a mandate to reposition the company from a traditional telco to a technology-led enterprise, she designed new digital value chains, built data-driven platforms, and helped reframe the company’s competitive strategy through technology.
Her next chapter at Hero MotoCorp was even more ambitious. As Chief Information and Digital Officer, she built the organisation’s digital DNA from scratch. From creating an entire digital team across data science, cybersecurity, cloud, and connected platforms to leading the development of customer-first platforms like eFin and D2C interfaces, she transformed Hero MotoCorp into a digitally forward mobility powerhouse.
It wasn’t just transformation; it was monetisation. Her ability to extract business value from digital assets and align R&D, marketing, and customer engagement under a cohesive digital strategy became a benchmark for legacy manufacturers embracing digital at scale.
Back to the Future
Returning to Unilever in 2025 as Global VP – Digital Technology and Head of its India GCC, Reema now plays a dual role—shaping global digital strategy while harnessing the executional strength of the India hub. With end-to-end oversight on transformation initiatives, she’s at the forefront of building future-ready capabilities across AI, DevOps, analytics, and digital experience.
Her leadership extends beyond technology. As India’s Diversity & Inclusion Champion at Unilever, she actively works to create equitable pathways for under-represented talent and collaborates with industry bodies to move the needle on inclusion. She has also led sustainability programmes that delivered carbon neutrality gains across value chains at Hero MotoCorp and continues to advocate for purpose-driven innovation.
Beyond the Boardroom
A frequent speaker at digital and tech forums, Reema is often seen at industry roundtables discussing the future of tech leadership, AI ethics, and digital policy. She has served on the board of Hero MotoCorp Magneti Marelli and as a board observer at Ather Energy, bringing her strategic foresight to the rapidly evolving automotive and EV sectors.
Her accolades, including Top Tech Women Leader by Forbes India and IDG Global CIO 100 awardee, only echo what her peers and teams already know: Reema is a leader who combines deep domain expertise with the courage to challenge norms and the wisdom to execute with precision.
As she continues to shape the digital destiny of Unilever and beyond, Reema remains a symbol of what’s possible when one’s career evolves not by default, but by design.
