Rolls-Royce announced on Sunday that it aims to make India its Home Market, with the primary goal of identifying opportunities across a range of domains, including jet engines, naval propulsion, land systems, and advanced engineering.
Sashi Mukundan, the executive Vice President of Rolls-Royce India, said in an interview, mentioning the current significant move of big investment in India and listed developing a next-generation aero engine in India as a priority to power the combat of jets that New Delhi will produce under the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme.
India will become Rolls-Royce’s third home market, alongside Germany and the United States, as the company has a considerable presence, including manufacturing facilities in these two countries. Sashi Mukundan underscored how Rolls-Royce can promote India’s need for electric propulsion capabilities to boost the Indian Navy’s combat prowess.
He recommended that the development of the jet engine for the AMCA, involving Rolls-Royce, could also help India produce naval propulsion engines, as the company is among the very few engine manufacturers globally capable of “marinizing the aero engine”.
