Born to Late Karunamoyee Goswami and Late Siba Prasad Goswami, he completed his schooling in Digboi before pursuing a bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from Assam Engineering College, Guwahati. Furthering his education, he obtained an advanced postgraduate diploma in maintenance management in 2001. 

Pankaj’s professional journey began with Oil India Limited, where he dedicated over three decades of his career. His early roles at OIL were highlighted by his involvement in various high-value oil and gas production projects. His deep understanding of geology, drilling, and the social fabric of the Assam and Arunachal Pradesh exploration terrains set him apart as a hardcore oilman.

Before becoming the director of operations, Pankaj served as chief general manager (projects) at OIL’s field headquarters in Duliajan, Assam. His extensive experience in the Assam-Arakan basin, one of India’s oldest and most mature oil fields, equipped him with skills to navigate the intricacies of oil and gas production.
