In a major win, the Adani-Groups AESL (Adani Energy Solutions) secured the ₹25,000 crore Bhadla (Rajasthan)-Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) project. It’s the largest project for the company to date. Bhadla Fatehpur-HVDC Project was formally handed over to AESL on January 20, 2025.
Adani Energy Solutions shared that it won the project under the TBCB (Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding) mechanism, and RECPDCL (REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd) worked as a bid process coordinator. AESL intends to deliver the project within 4.5 years.
This project has taken the company’s order book to ₹54,761 crore, the transmission network to 25,778 CKM (circuit kilometre), and 84,186 MVA (Mega Volt-Amperes) transformation capacity.
The project involves establishing a 6,000-MW (megawatt) HVDC system between Bhadla and Fatehpur with a transmission network of 2,400 CKM and 7,500 MVA transmission capacity. It will help clear 6 GW (gigawatt) of renewable energy from different REZs (Renewable Energy Zones) in Rajasthan beyond Bhadla-III to North Indian demand centres.
AESL, led by Gautam Adani, is the only private sector company that has secured an HVDC project. Before the Bhadla-Fatehpur order, AESL secured two more HVDC projects: Mundra-Madendragarh Project and Aarey-Kudus Project.
