The Work Trade Index (WTI) of Microsoft 2025 indicates that, in the next 12-18 months, Indian business leaders are expected to deploy around 93% of AI agents to extend workforce capabilities, as reported on Wednesday, August 20. However, over 59% leaders are already deploying AI agents to automate tasks and workflow for the team.
Microsoft’s WTI measures emerging work patterns based on a data survey of 31,000 workers worldwide. They also analyze labor trends on LinkedIn and anonymize productivity signals from Microsoft 365. WTI findings 2025 highlight India’s prompt growth in AI, with business Leaders across various sectors focusing on productivity gains, multi-agent systems, and large-scale upskilling in response to technological advancements and competitive market pressures.

Microsoft’s 2025 WTI report introduces the “Frontier Firms” model, featuring hybrid teams of humans and AI. These firms have agile operations and integrate AI deeply into workflows. Employees in India’s Frontier Firms reported a 71% higher thriving rate than the global average of 37%, reflecting more meaningful work and increased optimism.
