India Towards Growth: Union Cabinet Approved New Scheme

The Union Cabinet has taken a significant step towards bolstering India’s green transition, rural infrastructure, and healthcare industry by approving comprehensive initiatives. These include a major push for electric vehicles (EV), the expansion of rural road connectivity, and the advancement of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) passed a separate budget for implementing each new scheme.

5 Major Decisions From Union Cabinet

  • PMGSY-IV to Boost Rural Connectivity

The PM E-drive scheme was approved with a fund of Rs. 10,900 Crore to support the adoption of electric vehicles. This new scheme will replace the earlier flagship scheme, Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles In India Phase II (FAME India Phase II). To combat pollution, this fund supports two-wheelers, three-wheelers, ambulances, trucks, buses, and other EV vehicles.

  • Ayushman Bharat Scheme for 70+-year-old Citizens

The Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY scheme was approved with a budget of Rs. 3,437 Crore and aims to provide universal health coverage for senior citizens.

  • Hydropower Boost

The cabinet has also approved the Hydropower Scheme, allocating Rs. 12,462 Crore to enhance infrastructure and meet 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.

  • PM E-drive Scheme

The Union Cabinet also approved Rs. 70,125 Crore for PM Gram Sadak Yojana-IV to improve rural connectivity. The scheme aims to construct 62,500 km of roads, connect 25,000 unconnected habitats, and upgrade bridges on new connectivity roads.

  • Mission Mausam

A Rs. 2,000 Crore budget was also approved for ‘Mission Mausam’, which tracks the weather for highly accurate and timely forecasts.
These new schemes highlight the government’s commitment to sustainable development, economic growth, and improved health outcomes for all citizens. PM Modi also recently held a meeting to launch SEMICON in India. These initiatives represent a forward-thinking approach to India’s future.
