Google’s parent company, Alphabet, is making a bold move in the cybersecurity space, announcing the acquisition of Wiz for a staggering $32 billion in an all-cash deal. The purchase is set to strengthen Alphabet’s presence in the highly competitive cloud computing market, where it competes with giants like Amazon and Microsoft. Once the deal is finalised, Wiz will officially become part of Google Cloud.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the growing need for stronger security solutions and more choices in cloud computing providers. “Today, businesses and governments that run in the cloud are looking for even stronger security solutions and greater choice in cloud computing providers,” he stated on March 18, 2025. He further emphasised that Google Cloud and Wiz will “turbocharge improved cloud security” and enhance the ability to use multiple cloud providers seamlessly.
Founded four years ago, New York-based Wiz specializes in cybersecurity.
